Line at bottom of recorded videos

Bob I

Question

When I capture video from my VHS player, I get a line at the bottom of the video. I see it on my computer screen, but not on my old square screen tv. Any suggestions on how to eliminate the line. I'm planning to get a new widescreen HDTV tv this year and am concerned that it will show on the new tv.

The first few top lines are used for closed captions. What you are seeing at the bottom is where the video recording heads switch. You could use Videowave's pan/zoom to get rid of it, but that will force the entire file to be rendered (if you're using MPEG) and it will also cause the render to take longer.

You don't see it on the TV because of overscan. The newer HDTV still have about 5% overscan so there is a good chance you won't see it.
