Audio Balance

tibu

Question

I have version 9, and I have a video file that has sound in only one channel, the right one. Is there a way to make adjustments so that the sound from the right is played in left and right speakers? it is a mpeg2 video file. I think on capture something was wrong with the left connection, so I am trying to avoid recapturing.

Any ideas?

One suggestion:

1) Extract the audio from the mpeg

2) Open the extracted audio in Sound Editor

3) To apply one audio channel to both channels, choose "Right on both" for channel control in the Input section of the Clip Properties dialog box.

4) Save the modified audio

5) Open the video file in Videowave

6) Mute the native audio of the video

7) Bring in the modified video (from step 4) and put to music track

8) Preview the video to ensure video and audio are in sync

9) You can use Output As to create a new video in mpeg format (or any other format presented in the option)

Thanks, that's a great suggestion. I will have to try that.

I'll also post what I did in case this also benefits someone with a similar issue: I used the normalize audio function and burned it to disk. When played on a DVD player the audio was out both speakers, even though the mpeg file had only one for the voice tracks.
