Compressing more than 4.7GB onto a 4.7GB Disc

PaulDespard

Question

With Roxio v7.5 - I was able to copy a DVD folder which was over 5GB and compress this onto a 4.7 GB disk.

It achieved this altering the compression from Identical to any of the following: High, Medium and Low - depending on the size of the folder you are trying to compress.

When I try to do the same with either v8 or v9 - I get a message showing that 4482 is the maximum I can transfer onto one DVD.

Is there a way I can achieve the same with versions later than Roxio Creator 7.5 ?

Regards

Paul

I have never seen that message before.

That's interesting, most programs only do 4464mb leaving a 18mb buffer on the outer edge of the disc. If it's true, it leaves no margin for error on the DVD disc!

I actually only know of one program where you can adjust it. Since some discs, maybe all, have somewhat rough edges, you are correct. You don't want to be burning right out to the outer edge. You will have problems.
