CD key has been disabled

jdc

Question

I have a similar problem but with a twist ....

I've had a Roxio Easy CD Creator (5.x.x) version installed for years. Today, while trying to burn a series of disks, it "hung" at the end of the first CD. I killed it (w Task Manager) -- probably a mistake.

Now if I run the program, it gives me the "Roxio Product Activation" screen (but for Version 7). If I click "Next" it shows the screen with the CD-key, but if I click Next again I get the message that the "... CD key has been disabled".

So it looks like I'm completely stuck ... and no, I have no idea where the original CD is! This is one of those cases that I burn a couple of data CDs about once a year, so I don't want to re-install, upgrade, or anything else.

Is there any way around this? I'm about to start poking around in the Registry, but could use some hints.

On further examination, I guess that I did originally have V 7 installed.

I'd suggest Roxizap. I'm attaching the FREQUENT ANSWERS link from ECDC 5 Forum, since you don't seem to be able to use the scrollbar or page-down key to find it.

If he doesn't have the installation disk for V7 he could be in trouble, he's already said he does not have the V5 CD.

Good point.

Altho it appears he's in trouble anyway. Good idea to stash all the discs for a given computer together, with installation codes. :)
