Sherri
Better card than my Geforce 7300GS. Do you have the latest Direct X (Dec 2006)? Have you changed anything in the nVidia Control Panel? All of the 'previews' in Videowave/MyDVD uses the video overlay options of the nVidia chipset. Mine are all set to defaults. Here is what you should see. Preset and Manual are identical. Hi, I made sure to update to Direct X Dec 2006 this morning. (I had it previously, but then had to replace dvd driver and hard drive & reboot system) OK I HAVE:GeForce 7600 GT updated drivers, Direct X Dec 2006, Intel pent 4 1GB ram, Windows XP media edition. The only thing I changed on video was screen resolution to 1024 x 768 Should I be able to use Pan & Zoom on movie? or Slideshow? or both/any. My point being I am scanning photos onto my system and wish to zoom in on a few group photos to show the person of interest. I will then burn onto DVD, so It can be shown for his birthday party. What are the video overlay options on the chipset?
ggrussell
1024X768 is minimum requirement. Video editing is much easier at higher resolutions because you see more on the screen. I was referring to the Display Properties, Geforce TAB. If you have the new Control Panel installed, then go to th Windows Control Panel > nVidia. I find the old one easier to use. If you haven't changed anything, then leave it alone. I tried running the 'Display Optimization Wizard' and it only screwed up my colors. OH yeah, ,make sure the display is set at 32bit (highest) color.
evmerritt
Have real problems with EMC in general and Pan & Zoom / Motion Picture in particular. When went to EMC 8.0 from 7.5, it would not recognize all the editing I did with Motion Picture function in EMC 7.5, so I uninstalled it and have been using 7.5 ever since. It now seems also unstable (interaction with IE 7 which Roxio says won't be fixed in 7.5 plus seems to crash every second time I use it). I vowed never to buy a Roxio product again based on this performance. But if Pan & Zoom does mimic earlier Motion Picture functionality, I may at least re-install 8.0 and maybe upgrade to 9.0. I do see a lot of dissatisfaction in these forums, so I have the following questions: 1. does Pan & Zoom supply same functionality as Motion Picture in EMC 7.5? 2. if it does, is there any way to retain the Motion Picture editing in EMC 7.5 projects in 8.0 or later? 3. since from these posts, it seems problematical whether it works or not on a given configuration, does Roxio ever fix anything? I only see mention of "work-arounds" in this thread and no mention of any intention to fix the problems. Thanks, Ev Merritt (a buyer of EMC since before it was named Media from 5.0 - 8.0 who may not upgrade again)

Comment: How would they fix this type of issue of it occurs only with certain configurations (and other installed programs)? Comment 2: You can keep V7 installed on your computer along with V8 or V9 so you can finish up those projects. Uninstall V7, install V8 or V9; reinstall V7 except for drag to disc. I Have NVIDIA settings tab on my startup menu with wich I can access NVIDIA control panel. Only thing I changed is 1024 x 768 resolution, and 32 bit color. Everything else should be as on install. I am almost ready to give up here and ask for the work around. I have to be able to zoom and pan on some of these photos! ARGH!
ggrussell
What video card do you have? Minimum requirement is a card that supports DirectX 9. some older cards may have 'compatible' DirectX 9 drivers, but they can't fully support some of the commands needed. Make sure you have updated video card drivers and the lastest DirectX 9 (dec 2006).

evmerritt
I'm at a loss here! Doesn't Roxio ever fix anything? I have EMC 8.0 but have stuck with 7.5 since it does Motion Pictures. EMC 8.0 did not keep this info from projects prepared with EMC 7.5 so I reverted back vowing never to buy another Roxio product. Now, I find EMC 7.5 is unstable on my system. Two questions (besides asking if Roxio ever fixes anything!): 1. is Pan and Zoom give the same functionality as Motion Pictures in EMC 7.5? 2. does it W-O-R-K in any later versions of VideoWave in EMC??? 3. is there any way I can get later versions to recognize all the hard work I did on projects built using EMC 7.5 (specifically with Motion Pictures function)? Thanks, Ev Merritt

Thanks, Ev Merritt 1. Some say the P&Z in EMC 7.5 is easier to use than later versions, but the effect is much the same. 2. Sure 3. Your EMC 7.5 productions will open in EMC 8 and EMC 9, but most, if not all, of your transitions and text will be lost. I don't have any 7.5 productions with pan and zoom in them, to try in EMC 9. If EMC 7.5 is unstable on your system, you should not upgrade to any new version until you get the problems with your computer squared away. ggrussell

If you don't see all the images, there is a work around. There does not seem to be any reason for this happening but I suspect that something may be left over from earlier versions. I have this issue also but the work around does work for me.

The work around works for me, too, but there is a definite bug in the software. Hopefully a patch will fix it.
Question
Sherri
I was able to use "motion Picture" feature in version 7 in videowave.
Is Pan & zoom the same thing? If so, I can't seem to get it to apply to a specific photo in my videowave slideshow.
I locate the photo, have it showing in the preview screen, activate the pulldown screen click pan & scan.
The pan & zoom editor window opens but does not show any photo to apply it to. Only the preset, manual, advanced options.
Manual option brings up: start....finish....preview and the - / + slide bars with reset buttons as well as the duration of effect bar.
How do I apply pan & zoom to my photo?
Argh
