Cannot get EMC7 Uninstalled From System

Mark1

Question

Unable to completly remove the drag to disc popup at start up after several attempts of removing and reinstalling EMC 7 with the windows XP installer. The roxio program seems to be removed but not the drag to disc program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Msconfig is a utility that if used will cause XP to start in somewhat of a different manner.

Disableing programs from the utility brings up a warning box and ask if you want to allow the

system to start up in a somewhat different way. If you choose not to allow this drag to disk

simply resets itself to start up

The solution was to remove the entries from the registry.

If the program simply had an uninstall option through windows control panel software removal

none of that would have been neccesary.

Drag to Disc program files are still in my system. Bad software company or may be just doesn't care.

Go in to Windows\ Start\ Run and type msconfig Now go to the Startup tab and UNCHECK Drag to Dsk (D2D), then click Apply, OK

Bad software? It works well for millions of folks. You can uninstall Drag to Disc through Add/Remove Programs by scrolling down to Roxio EMC 7, and clicking on Change button, then follow the prompts. When you get to the page showing all the components in EMC 7/7.5, click on the icon to the left of Drag to Disc and select This component will not be installed, or whatever it says. Then click ok.

BTW, you don't quite understand msconfig. When you uncheck the boxes, then reboot, when you see the box at startup, put a check mark in the box in the lower left corner, so you don't see the box on startup again, then click ok. Pretty simple. Drag to Disc won't show up again in the taskbar.

It resets itself to run automatically and will not allow the setting to be changed.

If deselecting any Roxio app in msconfig won't wotrk - there is a severe problem with your windows installation.

All it is doing is telling windowes NOT to load it at startup and if that won't let you apply the setting, the fault lies with windows
