Connecting plextor capture device to computer

I bought the Plextor capture device to capture video from a VHS to my computer. Should I be using the s-video cable or the a/v cables? I've tried both.

I also tried the suggestion of capturing in Movie Maker and when I try that, it says the video capture device is not detected. Any ideas for what I might try to properly connect my device?

Never had one but doesn't the Plextor connect to the PC with a USB connection?

 

Didn't this puppy come with instructions?

Use the software that came with the Plextor, for capturing. If you can capture as an .avi, do so. Otherwise, mpeg2 is ok, but harder to work with in EMC 9.

 

.AVI files are large, but easier/faster to work with in VideoWave, in EMC 9.
