Is this the right product for me?

TracyMal

Question

I'm brand new to Roxio and just wondering if this product will do what I need. I need to put together a slide presentation with about 250 pictures and music (full songs and clips) for an upcoming party. I have a CD burner on my computer - no DVD burner. But I need the presentation to be on a DVD. Could I burn it to a CD and give it to a friend that has a DVD burner for them to burn it for me? Is that going to work?

Thanks! I appreciate any suggestions you can offer.

I am not sure if EMC 9 will let you pick DVD for the type of production or not, if you only have a CD burner. If it does, burn your production to an image (.iso) file. Maybe the .ISO file will fit on a CD, and you can give that to your friend to burn.

DVD burners are relatively inexpensive now. You might want to think about getting one.

Or, if your friend has EMC 9, he/she would have to have all of the files that you use for the production, and have them in the same folder structure that you have on your computer. They could then take that production and burn it to a DVD.

Simply put - not a good idea.

If you can find a person with an external DVD burner (USB device) you can borrow it from that person and burn to DVD. If not, you have two options.

1) Buy an external DVD burner. They are pretty cheap now; you can pick one up for under $75. They plug into the USB port on your computer.

2) Find out if the device you will be playing the slide show on has the ability to play home burned SVCD or VCD discs. If so, you can chose to create and burn your project to one of those. Open MyDVD and select new project and select one of these. I'm not sure that the project will fit on a SVCD; it would probably fit on a VCD but the appearance would be poor. Since it would be poor; copying it to a DVD would probably degrade it further.

Yes, I have did this in 9 Creator Classic as a data disc, and burned to a CDRW. Then copied the contents of the CDRW back to the PC. The project just has to be small enough, your only moving data. My Video_ts folder was 469mb.
