Subtitle Files from EyeTV

Atlantic

Question

EyeTV records all the subtitle information in a separate file to the recording. VLC can pick it up and display it in this format. Can Toast 8 record this information in a DVD-compatible format to allow you to display the optional subtitles when playing a DVD encoded from EyeTV? Has anyone tried this?

I had heard that Toast 7 supported subtitles, but it wasn't clear from which sources. I have now bought Toast 8. I have EyeTV working in the UK (subtitles are different on broadcast television from the US). None of the subtitled recordings I have made have had any subtitles picked up by Toast 8. It did pick up second audio tracks that I didn't realise existed, and somehow managed to switch one programme so the secondary track (some mono commentary, none of the regular audio) became the primary track and it did not record the other track, so that DVD became a coaster, along with two others where the programme quit unexpectedly during the burn stage. Funny, since the old version of Toast on the same machine never had any problem, though I have been using it for years on that machine.

You can select which audio track is burned to DVD by selecting the title in the Video window and clicking the edit button. If there are multiple audio tracks there will be a drop-down button where the audio specs are listed.
