thebishop
Tivo Transfer will not launch on my MacBook Pro. quackers
This worked. Download and install Tivo Desktop. Reboot and then open Tivo Desktop in your System preferences. Select music to share or something and click start. Then open Tivo Transfer. Viola.... You must have a series 2 machine. I'm sad that no one at roxio is even bothering to respond to this thread. amr
Is there any way to fix this issue? I'm itching to get Tivo to go to work on my system. BTW, I'm using a Humax Series 2 Tivo, FWIW.
pokerpro
You must have a series 2 machine. I'm sad that no one at roxio is even bothering to respond to this thread. my tivo desktop works just fine. EVERYTHING works except my transfer window doesn't recognize the dvr. my sharing is wide open. It seems that my media access key isn't being recognized even though I know it's correct. Is there a setting in network or on the tivo that I'm missing. my tivo's address begfins with the proper numbers. Where are we going wrong? or is it a bug in toast? parvulesco
Do you have the TiVo HD? I looked into bookmang's suggestion and the TiVo Desktop says we need a DVR 2, not DVR 3. I think none of this Mac to TiVo stuff works for the latest TiVo machines, which is pretty lame product development. Series 3 TiVos do not support Tivo2Go, on Mac or PC. trublvr
TiVo Transfer launched directly from the folder AND launches from the Extras menu in Toast. Thanks! trublvr .... not quite the same problem. you should create a new thread for new problems. I'm still trying to find out more about the original posters issue, but can you do this for me: 1) Install and Launch Toast 8 (if you haven't already) 2) Quit Toast 3) Go to your Macintosh HD --> Applications --> Toast 8 Titanium folder 4) If you enabled TiVoToGo during the setup assistant, you should have an icon here for TiVo Transfer. Try launching it from here and let us know, thanks.
thebishop
i followed all of your directions EXCEPT #3, because there is no com.tivo.desktop.plist, however there is a com.tivo.desktop file that got deleted. i followed all directions, and i repaired permissions...no luck. keep the advice coming. drgwtv
Does anyone know whats up with this, I ahve tried everything in the post and still not opening. Just bounces like 3 times then stops. Even tried uninstalling. Anyone know how to uninstall COMPLETELY?
quackers
Series 3 TiVos do not support Tivo2Go, on Mac or PC. I'd say that the Tivo2Go doesn't support the series 3 machines. It's a software issue, not hardware. Can someone from TiVo and/or Roxio tell us why this was not made clear in the email offers and Toast 8 ads? We (at least amr, bookmang, and I) were suckered into buying Toast with false promises.
amr
Can someone tell me how to fix this or tell me how I can get a refund. The only reason I upgraded Toast is to get this Tivo feature and it does not work. I've tried it on 3 separate machines already with the same results: zip. I am very frustrated that this does not work and disappointed in Roxio for not fixing it.

Jeff Fried
I just verified with Tivo that the Series 3 will not transfer any videos either to a computer OR to another Tivo. The latter occurs because it would let the user then transfer to a computer. The person with whom i spoke said that the machine is capable but the software blocks it. Supposedly there are discussions involving cablelabs.com about protecting the HD materials - that is all this is about, protecting HD images. Having said that, if it were simply about the HD then they could simply block all HD, or better yet, block all copywritten HD [if possible]. So, the issue of HD my be a red herring. Because of this limitation i am sticking with my Series 2. No way! I just bought this series 3 for nothing? I need to get HD programs on to DVD for my kids. I bought Toast as soon as I found out about Tivo Transfer and now it doesn't work with series 3? Is this for sure? Can someone confirm?
trublvr
I am having the same problem. After selecting TiVo Transfer from the Extras menu, I get a pop up window telling me - "TiVo Transfer" could not be opened because it could not be found. I also reinstalled the application and went through the set up assistant twice, selecting the enable TiVo Transfer.

mrk99
I am also in the same boat, upgrading to Toast 8 from 6 and having the Tivo icon disappear almost immediately after launching. What a joke. I expect a full refund.

patatrox
i tried to do that, but it launches and then closes in seconds when launched directly from the toast 8 folder. Those steps were for trublvr, can you try the following: 1) Delete all copies of the Toast prefs file (Roxio Toast Prefs) 2) Delete com.roxio.Toast.plist 3) Delete com.tivo.desktop.plist 4) Delete com.tivo.desktop 5) Restart your computer 6) Launch Toast and enter your product key, ensure you select to enable TiVoToGo 7) Once Toast has launched, quit Toast 8) Now try launching the transfer application from the Toast folder If this doesn't work, can you try repairing disk permissions from Disk Utility? When I launch Toast, no Tivo options appear. I'm running 10.4.
quackers
I am having the identical problems as thebishop and amr and have worked through the suggested 8-point list and repaired disk permissions (which didn't make any repairs). I started this whole process with Toast w/Jam version 6.1.1 installed, and have since deleted it as well. Do Toast versions 6 and 8 use the same pref files or might there be others from version 6 to get rid of as well as the ones in the 8-point list? I read comments in other threads that TiVoToGo may not work with version 3 HD Tivo DVRs. Is this true? There is no comment to this effect in either the TiVo email ad or on the Roxio page linked to that ad. If it doesn't work then we should be offered a refund on the Toast purchase. However, it doesn't seem like the TiVo Transfer application not even launching should be a function of what version DVR we have.
freshburn
Tivo Series 3 do not yet support Tivo2Go on any platform. Until Tivo adds support, Toast can do anything. Currently only Series 2 Tivo will work.
