fedexjack
I see now that I never should have used Drag-to-Disk. However, how can I get the files off of the CD-RW disc that they are on with their correct names and directory structure. Every time I try to run UdfrChk.exe it tells me that I must log off and log back on as someone with local administrator rights. I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR!! My id is in the Administrator Group that has full access to all activities!! What is it about UnfrChk that it won't recognize this? Can anyone help me? I am totally frustrated with this piece of crap software. I've run Scan Disk on the CD and can recover the files as *.rec, but must I go thru all 1072 files one at a time to open them in various software programs to determine what they are? PC are supposed to be saving us time, but this is a total waste of mine!! Once I can recover these files, I will never again use Drag-to-Disk or any other packet writing software!! What version of Windows are you running now? What version of Direct CD/Drag-to-Disc? Is D2D still installed? Is the offending disc a CD-R (write once) or CD-RW (erasable) disc? You may want to check out either ISO Buster or CD Roller to recover your files. I don't recall who's tag-line said it, but it is true: "Computers help you solve problems you wouldn't have without them."
lynn98109
The tagline was from jmhoraze. OP said it is CD-RW This link goes to a post that explains the difference between CD, CD-R, and CD-RW, has some info on Packet-Writing, and some links. Perhaps I should simply post the relevant parts here, but re-formatting is a pain http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=12382

Try copying all the files off the disc, then write them back to CD using a session writing application (Data CD Project). If that does not work, try one of the recovery tools like CD Roller or ISO Buster you might have some luck at recovering the files

Since it's a CD-RW, as you pointed out, Lynn, you probably ought to go right to one of the suggested tools for data recovery.

Hopefully, ScanDisc hasn't made recovery impossible - it has been known to. Lynn
