DVR shows up in list, but with no info

extremecraft

Question

I set up Tivo Desktop, which works beautifully, but I installed Tivo to Go, entered the Media Key, and it shows the name of my TIVO, but none of the programs on the Tivo. I got the media key from my account on tivo.com because the media key said "temporarily unavailable" on my TIVO. Could this be the problem? When will my media key become available? Help!

I also am not able to get anything to show up in the list of recorded shows. And the only way I seem to be able to get my DVR to show up in the left hand list is to unplug the power to my router and reset it. (I hope I don't have to continue to do this every time I open Transfer.) Once I do get the DVR to show up the little spinner starts to spin as if it's trting to find the data, but nothing shows up. The spinner eventually stops after five minutes or so. There has got to be some bug here or something. I'm running the current version of OSX on a G5.

I just tried what you did with the router and i got the same results......The DVR showed up and it started spinning like it was going to find data but it eventually stops and nothing shows up.......Also when i close out of the program and try to get it back by reopening the DVR will not show up again unless i unplug the router again...

I have a Series 3 TiVo DVR and a Mac running Mac OS 10.4.9. The "Allow transfers" option is not yet available for this DVR because of legal/copywrite issues that are being negotiated as we speak. Therefore, saved programs on your DVR (series 3) can not be uploaded to your computer or TiVo-To-Go. I have a series 2 DVR that allows transfers just fine. This information was just given to me by a TiVo "network" support person.

Okay. I got this issue ironed out. It's beyond me why Roxio didn't mention this in their documentation. The problem was that my media key wasn't showing up on my TIVO. It always told me that the media key was temporarily unavailable. I had to log on to my TIVO account on their website, click on "DVR PREFERENCES" on the left-hand column, then check "allow transfers". When my TIVO connected to the network, all was right with the world, and Tivo-to-go worked like a charm.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be an easy fix for me and hopefully will work for you as well...

On your MAC, go to System Preferences - Click on Sharing - Select the Firewall tab - In the scroll list scroll down to the TIVO Desktop and put a check mark next to it so that your Firewall allows communication between your network and TIVO desktop.
