Finalizing CDs

I need the group's expertise on this.

 

We were using an older version of Roxio's Easy CD Creator.

OK, start laughing at us now, since we were still using version 5!

 

Due to some PC upgrades at work, our Roxio 5 is no longer available to us.

 

I might want to recommend that they purchase Roxio's Easy Media Creator version 9,

but I don't know if Roxio still has the following feature that we need.

 

Needed Feature: Finalize CD

Version 5 would let us finalize at CD so that after the CD burn had completed there could be

no further changes to the CD.

We were mainly burning data to CD for archive/storage purposed.

 

Here's how we used to access the finalize CD option:

 

We used to be able to go to the “Record CD Setup” window,

on the bottom right-hand side of the Options under Record Method was Finalize CD.

A single click on the radio button to the left of Finalize CD was used to select this Option.

 

I bet that was a trip down memory lane for long time Roxio users!

 

Does anyone know if Roxio's Easy Media Creator version 9 can also finalize (or what ever they are calling it these days) a CD so that after the CD burn has completed there could be no further changes to the CD?

 

If so, how does this option work in version 9?

You can make CD's and DVD's read only, which finalizes them. But, before you get EMC 9, make sure your computer far exceeds the mimimum requirements of the software.

I can agree with making sure your computer/s are up to date as far as the minimum requirements for EMC 9 are concerned. If your computers are as old as the ECDC 5 version, they are probably out of date too !!

There is a downloadable trial version that you may want to try. However, as Bruce pointed out, check if your PC far exceed the minimum system requirement for that version.
