You can split the video at that point, and mute the native audio on that portion of the clip.

oh, ok....got it. you can only mute the entire clip, not just a word.....ok, thanks for the suggestion! is there a way to add a "beeeep" sound effect at that exact point?

also, i have a dvd project that i created in mydvd 7 and opened it in 9 and lots of stuff was missing, transitions, video effects.....is there a clean way to convert old projects?

Yes, you can add a beep. Just make a "beep" sound file and add it to the sound track in Timeline view. It will take some playing around to get it in the right spot, and I don't know if you will completely drown out the sound that you want it to, without scaring your audience. :)

That's a good idea if you don't want to clip the video into segments. If you can find that "beeeep" sound file(maybe do a Google), you can bring it in Videowave and add it to another audio track. Then try to synch it with the portion of the video that you want to mute the audio part. You can trim the duration of the "beeeep" sound. You may need to increase the volume of the beeeep sound and lower (or mute) the audio of the video that you don't want to hear.

great! thanks guys! oh, i had a video effect in an older version that i didn't see in 9.....it was something like "old film"? it makes the vid look old, in black and white with lines thru it.....did they get rid of that or didn't look deep enough?

I don't think that is in V9  but you can try making the video black and white and use the old time TV overlay. :)
