Missing transitions, overlays and effects...

Count Cloppy

Question

Hi,

My first post and I'm asking for help.....typical :)

Seriously though, I hope someone here can help me as I've not got much hair left after pulling it all out over this "little" issue...

I've used VideoWave for about a year now and I know my way round pretty well, however, the last time I started it to begin work on a new project I discovered that the overlay, transition and effects folders were empty in the "Edit Video" component.

I checked that the files were intact in program files/roxio/EMC/videowave/content and they were so I restarted my system and re-opened videowave. No change.

So, I fully un-installed it and re-installed it again, no change.

So I re-un-installed, deleted all remaining files from my c: drive, cleaned the registry of all sign of it and re-installed it yet again.

I still have no transitions, overlays or effects showing in the program but they are intact on the harddrive. I have no idea what else I can do and I'm getting very behind in my work. Is there anyone who has come across this before or does anyone have any clue what is going wrong?

Thankyou in advance....

Clara

Hi, I had the same problem of missing transitions and so on one year ago. I visited this forum and I was helped very quickly by doing the same procedure described here.

My question: Does anybody of you know the reason for all these missings? It seems if this happens very often.

So I think, there must be a certain reason for it.

Somehow, that folder must become corrupted for some reason. It does not happen often, though. It has only happened to me once, since EMC 7 and EMC 7.5 came out.

I have been having the same problem. This is great, the editor now shows the transitions, etc. It also solved my problem of the CAPTURE panel being totally blank. I could not capture from my camcorder. I'm glad I searched the forum a little further. There were other suggestions that I tried that did not solve the problem. THIS IS GREAT (did I say that already?) :D:D

Have you updated anything recently on your computer, like IE 7 or WMP 11? Both of those break EMC7.5 and need to be removed.

Hi Mate,

Not got IE7 cos I knew that it screwed up EMC, didn't know about WMP11 though...I'll give it a try and if it works I may have to kiss you :)

Thanks

I've removed WMP11 and re-installed and no :) it hasn't worked.

Anymore ideas please?

Ok, maybe the Media Manager db is corrupt.

Try the following and see if it helps.

Rename your Media Manager folder:

Media Manager is a hidden file. Go to My Computer/Tools/Folder Options, click on View, scroll down to Hidden Files and folders, and click in the circle to the left of Show hidden files and folders. Click on Apply, then Ok.

a. Close all open applications, especially Roxio applications.

b. Open My Computer.

c. Double click on the C: drive and browse to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Roxio, where USERNAME is the name of the user you are currently logged in as.

d. Right click on the MediaManager folder and choose rename.

e. Name the folder MediaManager.old
