Active Transfers no longer transferring

wannabecanuck

Question

TiVo Transfer was working just fine until about a day ago. It sees the TiVo box, adds my shows to the Active Transfers list and starts the process. However, none of the currently five shows are being transferred. They all show as "waiting.

With the number of threads here about other issues, I doubt I'm alone. Any ideas?

I wish that would have worked. I did make the Tivo connect and get current information successfully while I was having trouble. It didn't help. :(
Try restarting the TiVo. I find that if one transfer fails or stalls, TiVo Transfer doesn't take that failure out of the queue and all of the others remain in "Waiting" status.

Here's a way to check if you have something queued up for transfer. Open Safari, in Preferences under Bookmarks include Bonjour someplace convenient (say Bookmarks Bar), now click on Bonjour in your Bookmarks Bar and your TiVo should appear, click on it. Change the TiVo's address from http:// to https:// and your Now Playing List will appear. Select one of your shows to download with the "download" link. If you have something in the transfer queue, you'll get a failure message indicating too many transfers.

Oh, just in case: For the previous paragraph to work, you'll probably need to have enabled Video Transfers in TiVo Desktop. If you haven't already done this, hold the command (apple) key when you click on TiVo Desktop in Preferences. The hidden Videos tab will appear. Select "Publish my videos" and enter your Media Access Key (MAK).

When this happens again, on your TiVo, go to the Settings, Phone and Network, and see when the last successful connection attempt was made. I find that if my ISP is down at the time of the automatic daily connect, the transfer function fails to work until the next successful attempt. You can force the TiVo to download the info if it misses an automatic connection. I hope this remedies your problem.

Well, this is weird. I must have tried this a hundred times over the past two days and always got the same results (status waiting), then suddenly this morning it's working again. Does that mean the problem was on Tivo's end?? Annoying, but I guess I'll learn the quirks of this.

I have the same problem. I upgraded to Toast 8 and installed the software last week, 1/10/07. My first experiment with TivotoGo worked perfectly and I burned a DVD from the program. Now I try to do the same, but when I click Start Transfer it goes into the Active Transfers queue but stalls there "forever" with status listed as "waiting".

I bought the upgrade solely so that I can send my daughter (away at school) episodes of 24 as they come on each week. It started last night and I wanted to get the DVD in the mail today but can't even transfer the file.

Someone please help!!
