rmtahbo
When I try to make a data dvd with Easy CD Creator Data DVD project it says, "No supported DVD recorders were detected." I downloaded the updates but it still doesnt work. I also downloaded the ID#EEZ000005, I also tried to uninstall the DVD/CD rom drive. But it has not made a difference. I can make CDs just fine but not DVDs.

If your burner is newer that that, you probably will not be able to use ECDC 5 - and if your burner is a super-duper DVD burner, it may not be supported anyway. (NOTE: The List of Supported Drives has been deleted by Roxio)". lynn98109
If you come back with the additional information requested in the FREQUENT ANSWERS post referred to above, we might be able to give you more information. Certainly, I've seen more than one post by someone with a 'combo drive' (CD read & write, DVD read only) who wondered why they couldn't write DVDs. looking for answer
If you come back with the additional information requested in the FREQUENT ANSWERS post referred to above, we might be able to give you more information. Certainly, I've seen more than one post by someone with a 'combo drive' (CD read & write, DVD read only) who wondered why they couldn't write DVDs. Lynn I just bought one of those combo DVD/CD writer drives and get the same "no DVD drive found" error. It's an LG 16x Internal Super Multi DVD/CD Rewriter Model GSA-H10L. I also downloaded the last update (5.3.5 10V) and it's still not recognizing my drive. Nero doesn't have a problem though. Unless I can find a fix for Easy CD Creator 5 (which has been my alltime favorite for such tasks), I'll probably start using Nero.
lynn98109
In Days of Olde, the burning software had information about each different burner model, and used that to recognize the burner. This list needed to be updated from time to time. The most recent (and absolutely FINAL) such list put out for ECDC 5 was December 2004. Your burner is a a great deal newer than that. New burning programs depend on Dynamic Drive Detection, which queries the drive for the information. Also, since you have a spiffy new Dual-Layer burner, I'd suggest you need a burning program that supports that. The earliest Roxio Version to support it is EMC 7.1 If you want to use the burning program that came with it (and from what you say, it's a Nero program, probably a Basic or Light version), that's fine. Such OEM Versions usually don't have all the features of the full Version, but if you decide to get the additional features, you can buy the program of your choice - as long as it is new enough to support DVD-DL burning. Brendon
Yes, you've got an OLD Easy CD Creator, a NEW Nero, and a NEW burner. The problem's a bit of a no-brainer really.
