Digitalhighway
You are talking about 10.5 hours of video. You need to get serious. You aren't going to fit that on 1 DVD. You need 10 standard DVD's for your video to get the best quality. Thanks for the advice. As you may already know this is my second day using Roxio Media Creator 9. Don't know what I am doing at times but overall the software seems to have alot of good features for creating DVDs. I like it alot. Thanks again. ggrussell
You haven't mentioned WHAT kind of AVI file. Guessing, they are probably DivX files which are popular on the net. DivX uses a much higher compression ratio than MPEG 2 so when MyDVD or Disc Copier converts them to DVD compliant MPEG 2 files, they grow in size. Could be 2 to 4X or even larger. This is why we sometimes say that size doesn't matter especially when you are dealing with different file types. It is better to think in terms of TIME. For a single layer, 4.7 blank 1 hr = best quality. After that, the data must be compressed more to make it fit. Most of the time, 2 hrs will look fine to most people. Simple version: Import your files in MyDVD then select your menu (if you want). In the project properties, uncheck fit to disc, select best quallity then select burn but not to disc. Save to an image file (ISO). And let her go. When completed, open up Disc Copier and browse to where you saved your file and let DC burn the ISO to disc. You should be good to go but the tutorials will help too.

If you have a DVD burner capable of burning the DL discs, you can cut that down to 5 discs or so.

You can fit 1 hour of video, at high quality, on a standard 4.7GB DVD.
REDWAGON
"Each file is about 350-375 MB in size." Although size is probably proportional to time to some degree, when it comes to burning a DVD, it's the time that is the ruler. Frank...
Digitalhighway
Each .avi file is about 45 minutes long. I have selected Extra Long Play for "quality" but now the project is too large. It exceeds the limit of the DVD+R (Used 12224.5 MB Free -7524.5 MB Time Remaining -4:50:58) How do I correct this?
