dnewhous
I am interested in this product but want to know if it can import from avi files. Is there an alternative product that will do so and that has a downloadable user's/reference manual?

Is there an alternative product that will do so and that has a downloadable user's/reference manual? Depends on what you mean by "import", and what type of files the .avi is. DV-AVI can be used as source files for projects just fine. If they are Divx or Xvid type avi files, I'm not sure as I don't have any of those to use. No, divx/xvid files don't work in DVDit Pro 6 but I haven't tried any in the new HD version yet so but I'm doubtful that they will. You'll need to convert them first to either DV AVI or mpeg. Wing.cc
From DVDit Pro HD, I found the following formats when I use "Import": - MPEG 1 Video - MPEG 2 Video - MPEG 4 Video - QuickTime Video (*.qt, *.dv, *.mov) - Windows Media Video files - Windows Media files - Microsoft Recorded TV Shows I tried to Import a DivX file, it goes into DVDit Pro HD. I cannot preview it but when you burn the project, it will be transcoded. Oh, manual can be get from http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=14111
