editing a VCR tape...

Excuse my way off question.

It has been some time since I've worked with a VCR machine.

Using my VCR I recorded a few programmes for a friend because he does not own a DVD player and refuses to have one even at my expense. Old ideas die hard.

Now I would like to clean up those recordings by trimming out some parts of the recording.

At this time I can not recall exactly how I used to do that.

Help/guidance please.

"Trimming out some parts using the VCR?"

If that's not the case and you are asking about capturing the stuff off the VCR tape and getting into your computer so you can use Roxio's programs to edit it then that's a different story. Since your friend doesn't want a CD player but rather a VCR, then ml is probably right in thinking you just want to edit the VCR then give it back to your friend all edited.

I have done what you want but probably with hardware that you probably don't have. I have captured from my VCR to my computer, then edited the capture, then recorded it back to VCR. But that takes some separate hardware.

Does your user name indicate that you are a MAC guy? If so, you'll get some general answers here but if you want some guidance on the Mac programs, you may want to look at the forums below. Very few Mac people post here.

Suggestion, post your hardware specs in your signature (MyControls), create another post listing the software you are using, and pretty much describe what you want. As you can see by the other posts in this thread, there is some confusion about what you want to do.
