I recently made a batch of backup DVDs using Maxel disks (which I've been using for a year or so now.) There was about 40 disks and all seemed to go well. But now, when I insert one of these disks into my G5, I cannot copy the contents back onto the hard drive. In fact, I can no longer move any file anywhere on my hard drive or the servers I'm connected to. I get that crossout icon when I try to drag and drop (I call it the ghostbusters sign).
I can still open an app and save a document, I just can't move files around. To fix the problem, I have to disconnect from all external drives/servers, restart, and run Disk Utility and repair permissions. But once I insert one of those 40 disks, it gets messed up again. I tested disks that I burned prior to the backup and they work fine.
Any ideas on what is going on here? BTW Running a G5 Powermac, OS 10.4.8, Toast 7.1
