burning photo slideshow DVD

Paulie

Question

I have been trying to burn a dvd in slideshow for days. I load up my pictures, add the sound and click burn. The project encodes and writes to the dvd, but when I watch the dvd, there is a whole folder of picturs missing. When I watch the preview everything is there (603 pics). When I see the dvd, not there. I have tried everything from updates to installing directx 9, to downloading Roxio fix. Nothing works. I also can not copy DVD from my camcorder. I have a new Dell XPS410 and have had nothing but problems. Any advice?

Very nice computer. Did you get rid of all the junk on that computer before you installed EMC 8 or are your problems with the supplied "lite" versions?

When you click to burn a DVD from MyDVD, your computer must encode the project and burn the project to the disc at the same time. A lot of computers even "new" high speed computers have this problem for a variety of hardware and software problems. This time, deselect burn to disc and select burn to image (iso) file. Select a name and a location for that iso file. The iso is an exact copy of what will be on your disc. Your computer will essentially be doing one thing - encoding. Once the iso is encoded, (and you have saved your project), close MyDVD and open Disc Copier. On the left side navigate to the iso file and preview it. If it looks like all the images are there, you can simply copy that iso file to your DVD blank. Again your computer is only doing one thing.

A couple of other good things to do is to clean and defrag your hard drive even if Windows says you don't need to. Shut down all other running programs. Set your video to best performance using Windows. Don't use your computer during rendering; not even to play games. Although the computer is new to you, the part may have been on the shelf awhile. You should consider updating your video drivers here (for XP)

Now the bottom line. -- some people have complained about problems with the Slide Show Assistant in MyDVD when they have a large amount of images. You can use the search function to find the solutions they used. I know it is too late to do anything now but use Video Wave to create your slide show the next time. It does not have a limit and you have many more options and trouble shooting choices.

As for your camcorder problems, the post is a little ambiguous. Do you have a hard disc camera, are you trying to plug and burn (copy from camera to DVD) or are you just trying to import video from the camcorder. please clarify. Each of these have their special solutions.
