Playing slide show after burning DVD

Larry F

Question

I am running a newer Dell XPS and it does burn a slide show to a DVD real good using EMC 8

Problem is that when I play the slide show on my DVD player or computer it only plays the first slideshow then goes back to the main menu to let me choose and play the next slideshow. I have added multiple slideshows and filled the DVD leaving about 100 MB free. The main menu shows all the slide shows but I must choose each one individually to play them and get all the way thru the DVD. WHY IS THIS???

When I burn the same slideshows with NERO my DVD player plays the complete DVD with ALL the slide shows on it completly thru. THIS IS WHAT I WANT WITH ROXIO.

I have used Roxio Easy CD creator since #4 came out and love the program, BUT I am having a heck of a time with #8.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG THAT I CAN'T VIEW THE COMPLETE DVD WITHOUT HAVEING TO CHOOSE EACH INDIVIDUAL SLIDESHOW TO WATCH, OR IS THIS THE ONLY WAY THE PROGRAM WORKS.

Ouch, it is too early to yell and this is not Roxio support. We are users just like you and you don't know us well enough for you to yell at us.. Some of us even have Nero.

If you have the EMC 8 Deluxe Edition, you can set the navigation. If not, you do not have that option. Search the boards for "unlinked button" and you will find a work around. V9 also has the navigation enabled. You could have added all those slide shows as one title and added chapters which will run you from where you select to start to the end.

Post back with your version and perhaps we can help further.

Sorry about the YELL. It is just that I have been trying to figure this out since I got this version for Xmas. I do have the deluxe version.

Ok so help me!!!! what is navigation and how do I set it up.

Opps stupid me I just checked my users guide again and found navigation on page 60. Let me read it again and maybe, just maybe I will get the hang of this program.

Thanks.

I thought I had read the users guide completly but my old mind did not absorb all that stuff. Must be the beer absorbing the stuff that was in my mind.

thanks again for the key word of Navigation

 A lot of us drank too much beer last night based on how our football teams did. :)

Perhaps this will help; once you add the slide shows, right click and select settings, this is about what you will see (from V9) Look to the right about mid page.

Thanks Sknis

I will try that and see if it works for me.

Larry

remember some of us don't have a football team we must root for other teams all year long.

Ya gotta remember I live outside of DETROIT and WE don't have a PRO football team here in Michigan. I kinda root for Bret Farve to keep going at his age. Great games last night though!!

Thanks again I will try that out tonight.

Thanks for the help Sknis

Now I know what my real problem is. according to many other posts that I have read. I do not have the deluxe version and therefore I can't link my slide shows together. I guess I am stuck going back to the menu after viewing a slideshow on dvd and then I have to choose the next slide show. What a shame I was really starting to like this EMC 8. I guess after having Roxios programs for all these years (since 4) I must revert back to Nero 6 and then I will possibly buy the latest Nero. It seems that they give you the option to link the videos together. I had no idea that Roxio/Sonic would do such a thing as creating many versions of their program.

Well I guess that puts an end to this link unless by some miracle someone can link these slideshows together to continue thru the entire DVD without reverting back to the menu.

I need a beer ! but it is tooo early for one.

Thanks for all your help.

I don't know why it was botched in EMC 8, but thank heavens that EMC 9 only has one version, and everything in it works with the linking.

Search these boards for "Unlinked Button" and you will get some valuable help.

Also, this works. If you just want one button, open MyDVD and click to add new movies. Use Windows CTRL-Enter to select your movies in the order you want them played. All the movies are merged under one button. Must be mpg2 or avi. This doesn't work with VideoWave or My DVD slide show projects. You could also add chapters to the one movie if you want the ability to play the second (or third.etc) to the end.

I hope you read all the suggestions of building your slide shows in VideoWave. If you did that, you could output them to a mpg2 for DVD file and added the slide shows as described above.

Your philosophical comment about Nero was unnecessary. Almost all of the people who post on these boards are users and do not get paid by Roxio/Sonic Solutions therefore have no monetary involvement. We are here to try to help so that comment had no positive effect. Good luck with Nero.

As Bruce said, I'm not sure if anyone was happy with V8 Suite (or worse EMC 8 standard). I think even the bean counters who probably thought this was a good idea were "redirected".
