Installing on TWO computers

I have EMC 7.5 installed on my Desktop HP and I just bought a HP Notebook and would like to install on that as well. I am the legal owner of BOTH computers and can not seem to find reference as to if I am able to or not. Anyone?????

Well, I don't have EMC 7.5 installed here, but I did manage to fine the License in "EULA.RTF" for version 8 and version 5. For version 5, it states:

1. License.

(a) General. Subject to Your compliance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Roxio hereby grants to You a limited, personal, non-sublicensable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to:

(i) use one copy of the Software only for Your personal, noncommercial use on a single computer system and only in accordance with the accompanying end user documentation; and

(ii) make one copy of the Software in machine readable form solely for archival back-up purposes, provided You reproduce Roxio's copyright proprietary legends in any such copy.

For version 8 it states:

1. License.

(a) Trial License. If You are purchasing a Trial License, subject to Your compliance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Sonic hereby grants to You a limited, personal, non-sublicensable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to:

(i) use one copy of the Software to evaluate the Software and only for Your personal, noncommercial use on a single computer system and only in accordance with the accompanying end user documentation; and

(ii) make one copy of the Software in machine readable form solely for archival back-up purposes, provided You reproduce Sonic's copyright proprietary legends in any such copy.

(b ) Single User License. If You are purchasing a Single-User License, subject to Your compliance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Sonic hereby grants to You a limited, personal, non-sublicensable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to:

(i) use one copy of the Software only for Your personal, noncommercial use on a single computer system and only in accordance with the accompanying end user documentation; and

(ii) make one copy of the Software in machine readable form solely for archival back-up purposes, provided You reproduce Sonic's copyright proprietary legends in any such copy.

So, according to section 1.a.i (v5) and section 1.b.i (v8), no, you can't legally install it on both machines. I am guessing that the wording is the same for version 7.5 as it is with versions 5 & 8, but you may want to check it.

Thanks for the post, I looked all over the Roxio Website and didn't have any luck finding what you posted. I did NOT look at the site you referenced to.

Well that SUCKs. :)

Oh well, guess I'll have to come up withh another solution, I am cheap and only need it for limited use, so I will search for a FREE subsitute online at Tucows or somewhere.

Thansk so much for your response.

You'll find the EULA.RTF file on your computer that has EMC 7.5 installed. That's the license file, and it gets copied to your HD as part of the install. I don't think it's on the website anywhere.

A lot of software licenses let you install on a desktop and laptop PC as long as the software is only used on one at a time. So, yeah, it's a pretty restrictive license.

Good luck with the eBay auction!
