Can't Restore

lumano

Question

Hi, I made a backup from machine A to restore it to machine B due to computer upgrade.

I made the restore process but I cannot access that info, it shows that I cannot access nor modify those files. Thus, I have 2 restore files of 14 GB each in different parts of my computer that I cannot access or delete.

Help please!!

First some questions.

1. What did you use to back up?

2. Where are these files stored?

3. How are you trying to restore?

Did you install BUMP and the operating system on the second PC? To do a disaster recovery, you need to install the OS, then BUMP, then restore. Once installed, go to restore, device view. This will allow you to create a temporary catalog to restore from. Also if the directory structure is not complete make sure you mark to restore to an alternate location.

I installed BUMP, and then restored. But as I was telling you before, I cannot access.

I installed a new user with Admin preferences, with the same name and password; but it still doesn't let me enter.

I have 30GB useless!!!

Please help.

My guess is it is in the difference in the computer. Is it the same operating system, including same install disk? Are you trying to restore the operating system too? Not sure what the languages would do.

You state it can't access the files. What is the exact error message you get?

Also list all the specs for both machines. There may be something there that could be causing the problem.

But, is there a form to undo the restore process?
