Burnng problems

Hello all,

I have Easy cd creator 6 and I'm having problems. Every time I try to burn to a dvd disk, I get an error message (write error). I can make copies to a cd no problem. Here is what I've tried.

Updated firmware (my burner is a NEC dvd+r/rw) and drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio software, downloaded Nero (same errors while trying to burn a DVD data disc) . Now I'm beginning to think that my burner is shot and needs to be replaced. How can I check my hardware? I've tried going to device manager and it says the burner is working fine. I've gone through so many blank DVDs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS I also downloaded media creater 9 (trial version) and had errors . Got the following error message: E80041898: Write Error - [03/0C/00]

E80041925: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed - [T7118]

You need to tell us tell us your drive identifier - to get the ID string, right-click on the "my computer" icon, go to "properties" at the bottom of the menu, the hardware tab, then Device Manager, then click on the + alongside the CDROM icon. Copy it exactly, letter by letter, upper or lower case exactly, and space by space.

Also, are the discs you are trying to burn to DVD plus or DVD dash?

I'm using DVD +R discs. My Id string is _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A

Forgot to add that I've tried two different brads of dvd+r discs

Hmm. Not the usual (DVD-DL doesn't work) situation.

The NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A (that's a .pdf page) can burn DVD+R at 4x and DVD+RW at 2.4x (and CD-R at 16x and CD-RW at 10x).

I see two main possibililties here

- if you are trying to use DVD dash media instead of DVD plus media - it's not going to work.

- if you are using newer DVD plus media that can burn at faster than the above speeds, you will need to do a firmware update to the burner so it can recognize the media.

Looks like what you said to begin with is right - the burner has had it. :)

Hi all,

Thanks to all of you that tried to help solve my problem. I ended up bying a new dvd burner and it works just fine - except with easy cd creater 6!!. Here is what I tried to do: In classic creater, I dragged some large files to the lower window and clicked on burn. The burn proces started and 2 seconds later a window popped up and said burn was complete, would I like to create a label. Right after that the dreded Roxio easycd creator has encountered a problem and needs to close ......popped up. The error report was really long and I can't include it. I really don't want to upgrade as I don't use the program that often, but I'd like to be able to copy files to a DVD!

Thanks again for your past help and any answers you might have for this problem.
