Error while encoding 8004520c

I have a brand new Dell XPS system with everything possible on it. I just downloaded Media 9 Creator and have had terrible hang/crash problems with it. I finally created a slide show for my son's wedding with music and cannot get it to burn a cd. I get this error message of 8004520c. I an really terrible ignorant about these things so I need help in very basic language. I used video wave to create the show.

 

I am using dvd-r discs with 16x. I tried calling Roxio and was promised a fix but it never arrived. I tried calling again and got cut off. I really need help wtih this to finish it before the wedding in 1 week.

just to give an update. after the error, i re-launched myDVD and looked at the chapters, and did a validate project, no errors, so i tried to burn it again and it worked, but the completed project or DVD sometimes freezes, and gives a read error, even though i burned it to an image, and then to DVD at 4x...then the DVD plays again, so it just freezes on other random sections.... ayi yi yi...when will the TRUE PATCH for this app to fix all the little annoying pseudo errors. error trapping needs a BIG improvement at least so that the error can be troubleshooted (that a word?) because sometimes the error box is empty.

What are you playing the disc on, a standalone player or on your PC? Try both. Also, what type of media are you using, +R? -R? +RW? -RW? Some players like one or another type of media better than another. The fact that it's hanging up randomly, but playing, indicates that the "structure" of the disc is fine, but that the player is having trouble reading the disc, which is a writer/media/reader incompatibility issue, not a software writing issue. Also, check for firmware updates for your DVD writer, which may change how well it writes to any given media.

Only a few other posts mention this and some are also Dells but I don't know if that means anything except that maybe something already installed on the Dell causes it.

How did Roxio promise the fix? Were they to email it to you? Did they mention what they felt was causing it?

They were supposed to email a fix to me and they did not say what they thought was causing the problem.

I double checked about any possible fix for that and it looks like that error message is related to a video card issue. I would start by updating drivers.

i need to know what is causing this problem...i am getting the same problem now. it must be something in the file because i just did a similar movie set (mpg and mpegs) with chapters, that worked fine, but this second creation is causing this error...anyone? there is nothing in the KB in supoirt roxio...
