New LG Super Multi Blue Dual-Format Drive GGW-H10N

"LG offers flexibility to consumers in the next-generation in optical disc drives. The GGW-H10N is compatible with both Blu-ray Discs and HD-DVD formats. The drive is also the first to support "SecurDisc" technology."

Unfortunately, until they are down to under $200, I am not buying one. Same holds true for a player. I realize new tech is expensive, but they are getting ridiculous with the Blu-Ray and HD players and burners.

I do hope the prices come down soon. though.

I remember working with a guy that bought a Betamax player

at $1.300.00 y.....ears ago.

Just think of how much money that a company could have made if it came out with a combination VHS/BetaMax/Optical disc player. :) (I don't remember what that disc was called.).

However - the link I gave mentions that they are also working on internal blu-ray writer/HD reader combo drive (now that could be useful - just wait until they get one that writes to both)
