Fixing Compatibilty Problem With Avg

Recommended Posts

I'm running Roxio CD creator ver 5.3.0.105. I'm trying to load and use AVG anti-virus software, but when I do, it says there is a bug or compatibilty problem with my version of Roxio and that I should upgrade. I'm using this on an older computer and really don't want to pay to upgrade to latest Roxio version.

Is there another free upgrade or patch that I can use so I can load and run AVG?

David.

The download is an altered version of the CDR4 driver which doesn't rip AVG's britches like the earlier version does.

Since the CDR4 driver has been around for much longer than AVG has, I don't know how they persuaded Roxio to make a change and not the newcomer AVG.

I suspect that Adaptec/Roxio may have done something "not quite standard" in there in earlier versions, so have now changed CDR4 to make it completely compliant wih standards.

Go to this site, and go to where it says "click here"

http://www.roxio.com/en/support/MSERR/CDR4_7.jhtml

Hello,

After upgrading my AVG, the program ended up sending me to the page above (like the other person), I then downloaded the file, and double-clicked on it to run it..

But I get the following message box..

The window title bar reads, "16 Bit MS-Dos Subsystem"

and it says after naming the downloaded file..

The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.

It lists some numbers and then says click "close" to terminate the application.

So the update did not seem to complete..

What should I do now? Is there any special way I need to run the patch?

Why did it terminate? Did this happen to anyone else??

Thanks!!
