Question

Hi,

I'm attempting to make a nice slideshow using photos.

I've added slow dissolves in all of the production and some transitions to photos. I've also added Auto Motion.

I was trying to do something I read here in the forum which is to add two identical photos with a dissolve in between them and to add to the second photo a 3D transition. Well, when I do this, it crashes. Maybe I've added to many things??

How can I make the slideshow slower, without having to edit each one? I also want to use the Aspect Ratio tool on all of them at the same time and I can't find where to do that. They are all 4:5 photos, but some have some space around them.

I also purchased a song from Napster and now I can't get it into the production! I read that I should burn it and the computer isn't recognizing a cd :-( I'll have to call Dell for that.

Sorry, if I'm not clear as I still don't understand many things.

Thank you,

Gloria

You asked a lot of questions and provided some explanation of your problems but without some information on your hardware, it will be difficult to diagnose all of them

I assume that you are using VideoWave. Go to the top menu and select tools> options and then run the rendering test. If, after the test, the dot is near software and not near hardware, then your video card/chips is causing the freezing problem. Do not change the dot to hardware if it is by software. You will not have access to the 3D transitions until either you update the drivers for your card/chip and/or you install a new video card. If it is by hardware after the test, then we''ll to do a little more guessing.

To get images or transitions to display for a longer time, right click on an image to select it and then right click. A windows will display, select "trim" and set the display time you want. You can apply that time to that one image or to all the images. Do the same thing to change the display time of the transitions. By the way, if the image and the transition times conflict, that could also cause a freeze up. For example if you have an image with a three second display time and a three second transition on either side, then that image has essentially o display time. The transition subtracts from the display; it does not add.

To get the music on the CD, you must use the service where you bought (rented) the music to burn it to a disc. You can then copy it back to your computer at a different location and use that. make sure that your service does not have an option to create a protected disc.

As to your aspect ratio, depends on the orientation of the image. If you only have a few, you can add a color panel to line of images nd then add that image as an overlay. Gloria, before you go too far on the image issues, search the board for TV safe zone. Normal TV will only show about 85 % of what you see on a computer. There is a icon for the TV safe zone to see what you will see on a TV. You may have to crop your images using something like image cropper that will reduce the size of your photos so they will be displayed properly. You can put a color boarder around the images so that they can be something other than black.

I hope I answered most of your questions. Post back if the suggestions give you what you want or of you have other questions.

Hi, Sknis:-)

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I'm trying to make something, when I don't have enough knowledge of the program. I just downloaded the manual and have to read more.

I tried the rendering instructions. The dot is by "hardware" and it seemed to work ok. I have a 3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4, NVIDIA GeForce 6800, 2 gigs of ram.

I'm copying your instructions for further use. Very important what you said about the time. Right now I applied 5.20 seconds to all the images. So easy, if you know where to do it! Thanks!

I will have to wait two or three days to burn the song to a cd. I paid for the track using Napster, but I was having a problem burning it to a cd and Napster won't burn to a dvd. I spoke to Dell today and after some diagnostics, they are replacing the drive.

Regarding the aspect ratio, I just selected the TV safe zone option in Videowave and it does cover some parts of my images! My photos all have the 3:2 aspect ratio and I changed them all (little cropping) to 4:3. They are more or less 2889 x 2311. Do I have to resize them to 640 x 480. Would the quality be the same?

I thought that this would be sufficient (changing to 4:3). I'll have to read on that TV safe zone, as you suggested to see what I have to do. I don't like to see an uneven frame around it. I would like to use the Overlay (edges) which I found, but they are a little too thick and I don't know how to resize them and then add them to the whole production. I like the soft vignetting effect. Are we able to add more to the program?

Today I discovered Internal tracks, which I have no idea what they are. I also I discovered I could zoom into the picture. So I did it on the brides face and it looked great, but when I went to the production, it will not show the change and the change was reflected as an Internal Track.

Well, as you see, I'm discovering Videowave. I really appreciate your help and comments.
