Sony Mediia Converter and Plug & Burn

sadiebeag

Question

I have toast 7.1 and a Sony media converter - DVMC-DA2. I am trying to copy a VHS tape, through the media converter (converts to DV) and then burn to a DVD. Under the "Video" tab, Toast see's the converter - line 1- NSTC DV camcorder, line 2 - Sony DVMC-DA2. When I start the VCRand press "Import", I see the message "Waiting for camcorder" briefly, followed by a larger message - DV Camcorder: Please make sure that a tape cassette is inserted aand that the camera is connected and in playback mode. When I use my DV camera, this function works fine. It appears that when using the converter, toast is waiting for some signal, before it starts the import. I cannot find any screens to modify the settings. Does anyone have any suggestions. I'm using a G4 with a 1.2 GHz cpu upgrade and 10.4.6. Thanks for the help.

Plug and burn literally requires a camcorder. It does not work with DV capture devices. I recommend using Vidi or QuickTime Pro to capture your DV video instead of Toast.

Thank you for the information. Any idea which one of the programs works best? I was hoping to do a bit of trimming of the imported file before buring to DVD.

It's been awhile since I've looked at Vidi. It used to be my choice before QuickTime Pro could record DV video directly. I know QuickTime Pro can do trimming, but not sure about Vidi.
