Currently on a "Capture" mission with my old camcorder tapes.
One analogue tape has given me problems, namely:-
1. While running in Capture it kept freezing at the same point with what looked like a lot of distortion on the Preview Screen ( I assume EMC9 is a bit sensitive to dropped frames/distortion in analogue tapes). So I decided to capture it using a little application that was recommended somewhere on these forums i.e. WinDv.
2. Captured the whole tape, no bother, as one large AVI file.
3. Tried to import back into EMC9 to edit before converting to MPEG-2 but it was not recognised. Strange, I thought. So I decided to try another route.
4. I still have Magix Movie Edit Pro 10 loaded so I captured it again with this as AVI. EMC9 wouldn't recognise this either.
5. Still in Edit Pro 10 I encoded to MPEG-2 and load into EMC no problem. I finished my editing o.k.
My question is why wouldn't EMC9 recognise AVI files from other applications?

I hope this isn't the old DIVX malarky as I have tried twice to follow the instructions in the forum http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=8841 without much success.
Thanks.
