Eliminating track gaps in music DVDs

rex boris

Question

I have been trying to make PCM music DVDs converting collections (i.e., the Shostakovich Symphonies) and putting them on 1 or 2 DVDs. When the originals have track breaks for music that runs without break Toast inserts a gap (between 1 and 4 seconds). When I use i-Tunes to join tracks, sometimes I can burn, sometimes the application just quits. I suspect that there is some sort of a cache that is too large, but I don't know. But better than fixing this would be if there were a way for me to eliminate the gaps between tracks altogether. Any solutions?

Disable the options for Smart Lists and Shuffle Play in the menu and see if that makes any difference in the pause between tracks.

Another possibility is to select Audio CD as the Toast format. Add the iTunes tracks and set the gap to zero seconds, then choose Save as Disc Image. Drag the resulting Sd2f file to iTunes and it will be imported as a single joined AIFF audio file. Use that for your Music DVD.

Thanks! This way worked!

this is the same thing that we were talking about in the Toast 8 section

but in my case I would like to take 24/48 PCM audio

and burn it with track marks... NOT GAPS as a music DVD

not only does it put in GAPS... it DITHERS it DOWN to 16 bit... WTF?

I can burn the MASTER AIFFs as 1 file but have to REENCODE to 24/96

Thanks for the suggestions, tsantee. I tried both. Unfortunately, neither worked. When I drag the disc image file Toast still sees the individual tracks in the file and places the default gap, which Toast doesn't let me set to less than 1 second.

You have to drag the disc image to iTunes and have iTunes import it. iTunes sees those as a single audio track. Then drag the that iTunes import to Toast. You'll have one continuous-playing track.

Darby it looks as though you and I are suffering from the same problem with 24 bit. I just started another thread after I did a search with no results, and just noticed this thread 5 down. Nice search function. :)

Let me know if you resolve the issue and I'll do the same.
