puzzler
Problem: Family DVDs get widespread distribution. I want put the same movie in both NTSC and PAL video format, one disc for Canada, and one for Britain. In Roxio EMC8 / VideoWave the decision for NTSC versus PAL comes very early, at start-up as does the duration of still images. The implication being, these are irrevocable choices. But the work of formation of the slideshow with its transitions, panels, zooming, panning, titles, effects and music is involved. Doing it over twice is something I prefer to avoid. Also the NTSC product would inevitably differ from the PAL, if only in some minor aspects. I was hoping to output the finished slideshow to disk in some form, say .avi, or .mpeg-2 or some other form that is not yet designated for one particular DVD region. Then I would use VideoWave twice more - clean start each time. One time choosing NTSC, adding my saved file, then burning to disc, and one more time with the PAL choice. Strangely, on using "Output As", the option for "NTSC or PAL" is offered again. Can't quite understand this. Can one switch video formats here? I have made the NTSC version just fine. I'm failing to make the PAL version. My final test to check for a PAL disc success is to pop the disc in a DVD player here in Canada hopeing to see a failure to read error message. But all I get is a successful showing. Maddening!

Click on the "Project Settings" and choose the PAL option under Standards. Then proceed normally. Until I hear from my contact in Europe I can only test the result indirectly by putting the disc in my DVD player. But when I do I see the desired "prohibited wrong region" error message. Problem: Family DVDs get widespread distribution. I want put the same movie in both NTSC and
PAL video format, one disc for Canada, and one for Britain.
In Roxio EMC8 / VideoWave the decision for NTSC versus PAL comes very early, at start-up as
does the duration of still images. The implication being, these are irrevocable choices.
But the work of formation of the slideshow with its transitions, panels, zooming, panning,
titles, effects and music is involved. Doing it over twice is something I prefer to avoid.
Also the NTSC product would inevitably differ from the PAL, if only in some minor aspects.
I was hoping to output the finished slideshow to disk in some form, say .avi, or .mpeg-2 or
some other form that is not yet designated for one particular DVD region. Then I would use
VideoWave twice more - clean start each time. One time choosing NTSC, adding my saved file,
then burning to disc, and one more time with the PAL choice.
Strangely, on using "Output As", the option for "NTSC or PAL" is offered again. Can't quite
understand this. Can one switch video formats here?
I have made the NTSC version just fine. I'm failing to make the PAL version. My final test
to check for a PAL disc success is to pop the disc in a DVD player here in Canada hopeing to
see a failure to read error message. But all I get is a successful showing. Maddening!
