How to Retrieve an Backup?

inaneglory

Question

I'm trying to use the Retrieve Utility in EMC9 to access a set of backup disks that were made with EMC8 Backup. according to the help file if it doesn't auto run I should click on the Launch_Retrieve.exe file but there isn't one on any of the disks. In Windows Explorer it shows nothing at all. EMC9 Disc & Device Utility shows 1 4.4GB file but I can't do anything with it. Help, please

Glad you got it figured out.Sometimes the solutions are so easy we have to look back and laugh when all is said and done.

That's one good thing about Roxio backup, you don't need the program installed to restore your data. With BUMP it has to be loaded to restore.

Thanks for the help Larry & Terry! I found the problem. The disks were made with BUMP & not Roxio Backup. Thank you! I had just had catastrophic failure with a brand new (3 month old) WD hard drive & it was starting to look like I was going to lose something like 100GB of stuff when I couldn't get the backup disks to work so I was freaking out a little. Need to remember to write the name of the program used on the new backup disks & work on a more comprehensive backup plan. Thanks again!
