What gives with this program ??

I insert a CD in to a drive any one of the 3 on this computer after a few seconds up pops the explore screen indicating the drive letter and contents, as if the cd was pre-formatted or had been previously used.

I go ahead and copy files the CD then Eject it, up pops the normal Roxio menu with the two options, I usualy leav as is then later on I Re-insert the CD on and it's BLANK prpoerties says 0 free 0 used so its blank un-formatted right ???

If I try to format it and get this erro message :-

FORMAT OPERATTION DRIVE (only displays that acual drive in use not all three) D, E, F :\FAILED UNSPECIFIED ERROR

As a result the cd's are rendered totaly usless and some previously used CD's are inaccessable to delete and some time move files around they become read only in effect

CD RW's as well as DVD's +R's, -R's RW's format no problem

The CD's I use are high quality and varie in speed from 3x to 52x and aI use BOTH the full size and 8cm (about 3.5inch)

I was under the impresion that the media has to be formatted befor it can be used, unless it staes pre-formatted.

One of my drives is a LightScribe the other two are Double Capacity/Desity capable could any of these facts have any effect on this problem, that is if it is a problem.

The media doesn't need to be formatted if you use Creator Classic, which is the program that you should be using if you are burning data files.

Works for me. I've made dozens of -R's that work on many computers. Maybe the other computers need firmware upgrades.

Don't use Drag to Disc. Use Creator Classic to make your data DVD's. You don't format the disc for Creator Classic. You just pull one off the spindle or box that they came in.

All the people in this forum who "know nothing" still know a lot more then you do about burning, Classic Creator and Drag-to-Disk.
