Video Wave Transition causing error to appear

Freds

Question

I have my 8 minute project in VW (9) to the point that it contains, slides(jpgs) with pan and zoom, video clips, background music on the Music track, narration on the Nar track. It has Native audio as well.

I am able to preview the whole performance satisfactorily.(I was having some difficulty with losing audio part way through the show but figured out that by previewing in the Storyline view it went ok. It seemed to have a bearing on where the markers directly under the preview window happened to be parked.)

However I decided I'd like to add a transition or two. I tried in all the ways I could think of but found a problem regardless what I did. For instance Storyline view; Add Transition from button on the upper left Content box; select a transition(clock wipe right). When I click OK, the PC does a lot of thinking about it all and then produces the dialog boxes you can see in my links.

The program must then be closed and reopened to continue....which it seems to do OK as long as I stay away from the Transitions.

Would those links have information that may point me in the direction I should be going? That perhaps one of you can help with?

I have considered just going without the transitions but I am sure down the road a piece I'll need to know how to deal with this.

And yes, I have cleaned Cache, deleted files, defragged, rebooted etc as much as I usually do (frequently)The Card driver is updated DirectX is 9.

You know your expertise is appreciated by this guy.

Thanks, Fred

I should update this to say, I eventually went the route of adding a transition theme, to all transition spots at random. Then deleting 98% of them, one by one. Everything proceeded normally.

I subsequently tried the individual addition once more ....once more it failed, as before??

Today I came to post this and thought I'd give it a try before posting. My original method worked just fine, with out the error report. I did notice much disk activity yesterday as I had been at it for an extended period. Task Manager noted much activity with VCG Proxy File Manager at that time.

At this point I am more confused about it than ever. It would be interesting for me to know what the error reports aimed at. I am now going to search around for VCG Proxy File Manager information. (maybe in another thread)

Thank you for taking the time to look this lengthy spiel over.

Those proxyfile are essentially temp files so that when you open an existin project, it just rebuilds it from there so that it opens quicker. Some people have that manager load up the CPU until things straighten out - anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. You can clear the proxy file manager and perhaps a lot of unneeded stuff will go away. Once you open your project, go to the top menu in VideoWave or MyDVD select tools options and then clear the proxy files. The files will be immediately rebuilt with only what you have in that project now. It will perhaps be faster next time.

Thanks for that clarification.

Wow! So much to know and learn about,(and remember)

Without you folks to guide us I don't think I could make this program fly. My utmost thanks to you skinis, and others for the help.
