use storybuilder themes in dvd builder?

nellyks

Question

hi-

i've noticed that there are many more exciting themes to choose from in storybuilder from videowave, but i don't usually use the storybuilder wizard when making my productions. is there a way to use these better themes from storybuilder in dvd builder?

there are only 4 themes available in dvd builder. i thought there were more so i fully loaded everything from the content cd, but there are still only 4 available. if anyone knows how to do the above question or where to get better/more themes for dvd builder, please fill me in.

thanks!

I didnt see storybuilder themes in Creator9 suite... do they exist?

That post of mine you quoted was for version 7.

There is no StoryBuilder in version 9. I think this is replaced by CineMagic is still there in V9.

PS: Thanks ml (see next post) for pointing that out. :)

There are more than 4 themes included. In DVD Builder, in the DVD Settings on the left side of the screen, did you click on Themes? If you're looking in the Themes folder on your hard drive, they are not all stored in that folder.

You can use those other themes in DVD Builder in a couple of different ways. In StoryBuilder, they are used on the Storyline.

In DVD Builder you can use them as Themes by choosing Background Photo/Video and browsing to where the files are stored on your hard drive. You can change the audio using the Browse feature also.

Does that help?

you were right. sorry. i was able to rename the folder as you instructed. i rebooted and still no more themes are shown in dvd builder. i do recall seeing more in the past. not sure where they went ...

They should be on the Content CD.

Usually, you have to do a Repair to reinstall them.

However, since you're already working on a production, put the Content CD in the drive, use Windows to view the files on the CD, then copy the theme you want to use to a new folder on your desktop. Then do the same thing you'd do to find the storybuilder themes to use them in your current production.

yes, i tried the media manager fix and here's what happened

1) i tried under username=all users

there was no media manager folder, only a videowave7 folder

2) i tried under username = (my last name)

it sayed, error renaming file or folder

access is denied

make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use

i confirmed via the task manager that i have all applications closed except for IE and windows explorer.

what next?

thanks

Why don't you try it with IE closed? If you have found the Media Manager folder, and you have right clicked on it and tried to rename it, and it said access denied, you have a Roxio program open. Close it, as the list of instructions above, stated.

hello-

yes, i do have IE7 currently installed. if i unstill and reinstall it could mess up some of my projects, right? let me know if you think i should try what you've suggested....

thanks!

Removing IE 7 will have no affect on your projects. If you want to use EMC 7/7.5 then you will have to uninstall IE 7 (and do not install it again) as it causes EMC 7/7.5 to not work correctly.

Both CineMagic and StoryBuilder were part of VideoWave in Version 7. I'm not certain what's included in 9.

IE7 is Internet Explorer 7, not EMC 7. If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, remove it. It breaks EMC 7.

yes, in dvd builder i clicked on themes on the left side of the screen and it brings up a box with only 4 themes to choose from. it's funny you say that there should be more b/c i recently uninstalled and reinstalled my software and i swear that in the old installation there were more themes. that's why i went ahead and installed the entire content cd thinking they were there somewhere.

anyway, i've tried what you suggested which is choosing background photo/video and browsing for the storybuilder files that way. it worked like a charm. thanks...

One question. Do you have IE7 installed? If so, uninstall it.

If you don't have it installed, try this. It can't hurt.

Rename your Media Manager folder.

Media Manager is a hidden file. Go to My Computer/Tools/Folder Options, click on View, scroll down to Hidden Files and folders, and click in the circle to the left of Show hidden files and folders. Click on Apply, then Ok.

a. Close all open applications, especially Roxio applications.

b. Open My Computer.

c. Double click on the C: drive and browse to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Roxio, where USERNAME is the name of the user you are currently logged in as.

d. Right click on the MediaManager folder and choose rename.

e. Name the folder MediaManager.old

Look now, to see if you have more themes.
