Does the Nero installation include Nero's InCD?

I purchased "Easy CD & DVD burning" at a local dealer on January 22, 2007 and installed the software the same day. The version on the disk label is "Easy Burn V6.2.1.130. I downloaded an update that refered to not recognizing CD/DVD drives and the software still does not recignize the drive on my computer. The drive is a Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A.

There have been no software updates to Version 6 since 2003, and there were no DVD-DL burners way back then.

Yes, Marketing DID reissue old software. What I think of that exceeds what can be printed.

Did you try the suggestion in post #4.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just bought this Easy CD & DVD Burning, too. I am trying to use it on a Toshiba laptop with a Matsushita DVD Recorder. But I am getting the exact same error. I downloaded the Update that was supposed to recognize additional drvies, too, but it still doesn't work.

I am trying the "Test Version" of Intervideo software to see if that will work.

I don't think this is a MS problem because the DVD recorder wors fine with the Toshib DVD recording software...

Does anybody know where on the Roxio website they have a list of DVD burners that their software supports?

I just downloaded the WinDVD Creator software (Ver 3.0 and it recognizes the DVD Driver. So it is definitely a problem with this Roxio software.

Don't waste your time with MS Windows...

Did you try READING the entire thread, instead of just "me-too-ing" it?

This software has not had ANY UPDATES since 2003. If your drive has some new feature - such as DVD-DL - that didn't exist then, then even the Dynamic Drive Detection part of the program may not see your burner.

And just giving the brand of the burner is not any particular help in determining how new the exact model is.

The model Matsushita DVD recorder Model Number is UJ-841S...

I just bought the laptop in October of 2006, so I am assuming the DVD recorder is relatively new.

Would I have theis problem with a newer version of Roxio?

I like the Roxio softweare a lot better than the WinDVD. Roxio is easier to use and much more intuitive, but if I can't get it to burn DVD's it isn't going to help me.

What you have isn't the same problem - in the other cases the drives were missing

In your case it's possible that your drive is too new for the program. Check the help, about and let us know what the version number is

I am using the RoxioDVD Builder 1.20.131 (copyright in 2003, as Lynn mentioned)

I purchased Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning which is a new program that was released by Roxio on 2/15/2007. So, don't get this confused with Easy Cd Creator V6. The label says Easy Burn V6.2.1.130. I have the same problem other's have mentioned here.

To put the problem in simple terms, everything recognized my CD/DVD drives except this program. The drives are NOT MISSING I can see them and use them except with Roxio. It tells me "Disk Copier could not detect any supported recorders. Please ensure your recorder is properly connected. If the problem persists. please re-install Easy CD & DVD Creator."

When I first run the program after the installation it sees my drive. But after I restart the system (following the instructions) I get the message above. My system is a two year old Dell so the drive is not new.

I had this problem with 7.5 and there was a registry hack that fixed it. I can't find that now.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you are refering to the "upperfilters" "lowerfilters" thing.

If you search on one of those you'd find posts with the info in it. Here's a link to one that has it:

The release date is irrelevant - it's a re-release. The label gives you the Version number, and that IS relevant. So the the part of the thread above this.

If the answer to Daithi's question is no, you might consider telling Customer Service what you think of it.

Yes, that's it. I found my notes from what fixed it for me before and did it. I will tell everyone what I did. This totally fixed my problem, back then with 7.5 and now this program. Your mileage may vary and I take no responsibility.

THIS IS A REGISTRY HACK.

Load REGEDIT and navigate as followings:

1. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking the + next to it.)

2. Expand the SYSTEM Key

3. Expand the CurrentControlSet Key

4. Expand the Control Key

5. Expand the Class Key

6. Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

7. Highlight this key by left clicking once on it

8. On the right hand side you are looking for UpperFilters and LowerFilters under the Name column.

You should see a LowerFilters and a LowerFilters.bak. If you don't see these then this fix will probably not work for you.

You need to rename the LowerFiters.bak and UpperFilters.bak to LowerFilters and UpperFilters respectively.

What I did was rename LowerFilters to LowerFilters.now and the LowerFilters.bak to LowerFilters. The data value of the renamed LowerFilters should be PxHelp20 Pfc.

You should do the same thing for the UpperFilters. The data value of the renamed UpperFilters should be GEARaspiWDM.

Remember, I said after the installation and before the reboot my CD writer was detected. After the reboot it wasn't. I believe the during processing while rebooting the program saved the old value as the .Bak files and put in the new value. The new value it put in is what broke the detection.

What this does it put it as it was before the program installation changed it.

By just renaming the LowerFilters and UpperFilters you can easily reverse it if there's a problem.

Good Luck

OK Joseph (alright so I looked you up - nice rig you have there btw)

Does the box you have say 'Vista Compatible'?

OK Mr. DEGP (yes I looked you up too) Then you found out my call sign is now W2JLB. It was KB2NBN way back when I joined this support forum.

No, the box does not say it's Vista Compatible. After reading the fine print I see it was originally released as Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.

I was one of the first to get Roxio 8 and had many problems. I then went back to 7.5 and had the problem I described. It was good for a few years then for some reason two days ago 7.5 just stopped running. I had ordered and downloaded it on-line and could not find the installation. So, for $29.99. I got the what I find out now is the re-release of 6. It does everything I need and it was cheap.

If you're not comfortable fixing the Microsoft problem (drives disappear from Windows when writing program installed) return the writing program, not that it logically follows.

If you're going to return the program tomorrow, then take it off your computer. It's not honest to return it but keep a copy.

I did take it off I agree it wouldnt be right.Just wish I could have got it too work I really liked it up till it wouldn't burn. I really dont think this is a MS problem as much as a Roxio prob.as soon as I uninstalled everything worked again.
