emc 7 and IE7

brp in pgh

Question

well i quickly learned from visiting this post that ie7 and emc7 are not compatible.

i rolled back to ie6 as suggested, but i still can't open emc7. tried to reinstall and i can't do that either.

something about a certificate. Is there something else i need to be doing to get emc7 working again, otherwise i might as well go back to ie7, i was getting kind of used to it.

also, am i to "truely" believe that emc9 works with ie7? i see it needs media player 10, which disables my media center 04's ability to play my music.

can't seem to win.

any help is much appreciated.

My Roxio EMC 7.5 broke recently - probably by upgrading to IE7. I seam to have fixed it by re-running the EMC installation programm and selecting 'repair'.

IE7 and WMP11 will definitely break EMC 7.x

If you installed either - remove them

read about missing certificate, only found 4 entries (1 was mine). the regedit did not work. clean/uninstall reinstall obvioulsy does just that. uninstalls. before i go thru this timely process yet again, i'll ask another question in hopes to getting a real answer (not opinions or vents). I do use napster and itunes. i've been suspecting a conflict with those and emc7. i just yesterday went thru a process with napster to allow my computer to finally play music i got from them (it's been a long time). in all these post i keep hearing ranting and raving about napster and itunes. could there be an issue with the napster my emc7 put on and the napster i reinstalled yesterday? frankly, i've spent a good deal more money on tunes than i have on emc7. isn't there some list of programs emc7 dosn't like or vice versa i can get ahold of, and avoid hours of frustration.

Regedit wasn't mentioned in the URL that was posted. Did you download AND INSTALL the Microsoft Cleanup Utility? If so, did you then reboot before trying to install again? What happened?

I'm using WMP 9 here with EMC9 and no problems

If you search the forum for 'missing certificate' there should be a lot of posts on that as well as doing a clean uninstall/re-install of EMC

thanks,

makes me feel my comfy about upgrading. do you feel emc9 was worth the money? more importantly does it seem to be a little less sensitve, i've uninstalled, reinstalled, played with registry, ran roxizap, etc. so many times now i've lost count. it really does do some strange things. my latest was every time i tried to drag an icon to the quick task bar, instead of doing that, roxio started to install. made no sense.

There is a post here that helped someone else today with the certificate problem.

Thanks Larry - knew it was around somewhere (just couldn't remember where)

IE7 and EMC9 - jury's still out (there have been reports of problems with it and also with WMP11). Best thing is not to install it anyway and to use Firefox if you like tabbed browsers
