Installation of EMC 9

I have been an EMC 8 user for several months and just purchased EMC 9. Is it mandatory to uninstall EMC 8 before installing EMC 9. My appologies if this has been discussed before. If so, can someone point me to a thread where this is discussed. TIA for all your help.

Some people run both on there systems, i personally would not, id do a full uninstall as per this link shows

then install and run a clean EMC9,

that is of course only my preference though....
