dvd builder burn issue

nellyks

Question

hi-

i have dvd builder project that i burned directly to dvd and when i put it in the computer to play it with a dvd player (i.e. roxio or ulead) it says there's nothing on the disc and wants to know if i want to format it when i opened drag-to-disc, it shows that it has a dvd builder project, but when i click to view contents, it won't show it. very strange.

when i burned the disc it stated the project was completed successfully. i burned 2 copies in a row and neither works. the file size is not big showing 1593.4 MB with plenty more room. i'm now resorting to burning an ISO file image and will try that, but wasn't sure if anyone had any thoughts on the above statements.

thanks...

it won't let me do either test on either of the 2 bad discs as it still says there's no media present. very frustrating. i finally got roxio drag to disc to diplay the disc contents and it showed the usual folders and files when a dvd is burned, but still nothing. but it's intermittent. i took the disc out to try the other one and now drag to disc won't show anything again..

nellyks.....

Drag to Disk is the wrong program to try to open that DVD. If you just want to see the files on the DVD to make certain that they are there, use Windows Explorer.

What version of Easy Media Creator are you using?

i tried using windows explorer first, but it keeps saying "the disc is not formatted, do you want to format now?"; so as a secondary effort i tried drag to disc. neither will consistently show the contents. it somehow showed it to me once but i can't get it to do it again. the folders it showed me were

i think i'll just throw these discs out...

cdanteek,

i just tried playing another burned dvd in my toshiba player and it won't play. it says disc error. any thoughts on this?

the dvd played ok in my computer using ulead dvd player. the music was a bit distorted though. i also tried playing it via roxio player and i could hear the background music start, but the image would never appear. weird.

lastly, i ran disc error and pipo tests and both came out with no errors. i saved the screen shots but don't know how to paste them into this message as you have done.

thanks..

Sometimes the order in which you do things matters.

Open Roxio\ Cineplayer or RoxioPlayer or you may have a program like Cyberlink's Power DVD on your computer.

Now insert the DVD and see if it will show up in the player.

Will the DVDs play in a DVD player?

now i'm really frustrated. ugh! i have successfully burned 2 different dvd builder productions to iso images and onto dvd discs. here are the specifics...

production #1 --

won't play via roxio player (starts to play intro music, but never shows anything on the screen)

plays using ulead dvd player; sound is digitized/distorted

plays in my toshiba dvd player

production #2

won't play via roxio player (starts to play intro music, but never shows anything on the screen)

plays using ulead dvd player but sound is very digitized/distorted

won't play in my toshiba dvd player; says disc error

any thoughts?? perhaps i should reburn my iso image b/c something got messed up with it??

unfortunately, the dvd player we have is so old it won't play burned dvds

Unfortunately I have never met one of them. Will you list the make and model # of the player.

If you have version 7.5, DVDINFOPro is included in the suite. Use it for disc identification and disc quality checks. If not go below and download the free version and do the same. Tell us what they say about the disc. If you have trouble using it come back and ask!

DVDINFOPro™ by Nic Wilson is a DVD information program written in Visual C++ for Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, NT, 2000, XP.

There is a 90 day limit on your use of the free version and it is funded by some embedded adverts.

well, i just finished burning the iso image and burned it to disc and the video plays just fine in my computer. still don't know why the ones burned directly to disc didn't work, but i don't care so much now that i have a work around.

as for my old dvd player info it's a toshiba sd-1700. i actually just went and tried playing the successfully burned dvd and it did play with no problem...yeah! i gave up trying to play burned media b/c i've had issues with it playing burned music cd's. but now i know that burned dvds aren't a problem to play. :)

i have EMC 7, so i will try and download the above software and see what it says about the disc and get back toyou...
