pfeldman
My HP laptop (one year old) came with an application called "Roxio Creator Classic" (version 6.1.1.8). I have two questions: 1. No one (not even Roxio) seems to have heard of Roxio Creator Classic. Is this the same as Roxio Easy CD Creator? 2. When I burn an audio CD (not an MP3 CD) from MP3 source files, the last 2 seconds or so of each track is truncated. (When I listen to the original source files using Windows Media Player, they are not clipped. When I listen to an audio CD written by Creator Classic, the last 2 seconds or so of each track have been clipped). Has anyone else experienced this problem? Do newer versions of the Roxio software have this problem?
lynn98109
What you have is an OEM (Original Eqpt Mfgr) Version from HP. They would be the ones to provide support, especially since the fact it is a higher Version number than the regular Basic Version would suggest to me they have some stuff in it from EMC 7. I don't have Version 6 installed, and I won't swear what did which - mine or my friends - but I do recall CDs that have the first couple seconds of each track added to the previous track. If I had wanted to re-burn any of the tracks it would've been a problem. It could be Nero (my friend's) or Roxio 5 or RecordNow 7 (mine) - I haven't paid a lot of attention. There are editing programs to split the files where you want (CDWave, Goldwave, among others). It is possible to make .wav files of everything, and then burn the .wav files (I had to do that with the Win98 SE AMD K6-2 400MHz computer as the first burner was failing). Then you can clear out the .wav files and do the next. Or it should be possible to make an .ISO file on the Hard Drive, but the only program I've done that with is RecordNow so I can't give you the steps - then burn from the .ISO. pfeldman
Lynn- That is a great suggestion about converting everything to .wav files. I will give that a try. I will also try contacting HP, although I'm dubious that that will yield any results. Thanks again! Phillip P.S. That is an interesting quotation. You may be deaf to what is said, but clearly not to what is written.
Brendon
Creator Classic is just one part of Easy CD and DVD Creator 6. When you burn a music CD (CD Audio) if you lose 2 seconds of each track or are getting an unwanted 2-second gap between tracks, it is likely you are burning the disc in TAO (Track At Once) mode. Try shifting to burn the CD in DAO (Disc At Once) mode, and you're likely to find the problem disappears. I think this is more a fundamental 'how to' question than some change in software caused by an update. The current Basic version from Roxio is 6.1.1.48. I'm hopng another 4 lines will come up whole in my memory - the 4 lines that have come up ren't the one's I'm waiting for - or I will have the Win98 SE booted, and will add those 4 lines in. I encountered it one line at a time as chapter-heading quotes in a book, and was so impressed I copied them off - and it was only then I realized it must be from somewhere. A librarian identified the poem, but that translation doesn't seem to be online (nor did I find it at the library). pfeldman
Brendon- I do not see any way of selecting Disk At Once (DAO) mode. It appears that this is not an option in the version that I have. Thanks anyway! Phillip Creator Classic is just one part of Easy CD and DVD Creator 6. Hi Phillip, When you click on the Burn icon a record setup box appears. Click on the "Details" buttom at the bottom right corner and all will be revealed. pfeldman
Brendon- You are 100 percent right about the record setup box appearing when one clicks on the Burn icon; I had forgotten about the record setup box. Nevertheless, recording in Disk-at-Once (DAO) mode did not solve the problem; the last few seconds of each track are still getting truncated. I had a suggestion from another person to first convert the .mp3 files to .wav format; this might work, but I've decided that it is too cumbersome to be a good long-term solution. I've decided to dump Roxio and try one of the competing products. Thanks again!
lynn98109
Bear in mind that Version 6 hasn't had any software updates since 2003. EMC 9 (and there is a trial download available, but be sure you computer specifications are high enough to handle it first) is equivalent to Nero's current Version - I think they now have Version 6.
