gi7omy
Interesting new development here from Apple (think of it - low end PC for $299) http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2395 Now - who's going to be the first to set it up as a firewall or a server? First time btw I've heard of a PC being deliberately UNDERclocked
ggrussell
I think that Apple or any other company will have a hard time convincing me that HDTV can be compressed enough to be transmitted over wireless or even 100MB wired network AND have acceptable quality - IMHO. Who would be stupid enough to pay big buck for a large screen TV just to watch crappy , compressed signal?

You underestimate those that just have to have things like this so they can simply say they have it. It's an American thing.

Who would be stupid enough to pay big buck for a large screen TV just to watch crappy , compressed signal? We've already had one poster indicated that the poster pre-ordered. He asked about some mpeg4 type compressions. Perhaps the poster will come back to give us an opinion in March after playing with it for awhile. Read anything about slingbox? Purely intellectual; I don't need or want one.
ggrussell
Slingbox has been out for a long time. I've seen demos at CompUSA. Looks like video streaming from the internet. ugh!
