Video impressions

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since Easy CD Creator is not supported anymore, maybe someone here can help..

First my computer is a Dell 8200,pentium4,running windows xp..hope that's enough information..

I installed easy cd creator 5,put all updates in there, was using video impressions, tried to create a cd,it froze, had to shut down,to get the computer back up..Tried to open video impression,it didn't open, just said it would send an error report to microsoft..so I uninstalled the program..went to the registary, got rid of all the files I think I was suppose to...reinstalled easy cd creator,it still won't open, everything else works..I don't get it..Downloads other software to create cd's none of them work right either..You think their still files on there that are corrupted? I have search everywhere I can think of on the web and can't find anything..Anyone know why this happened?

Thanks

I don't know what "video impressions" is, but it sounds like a Video program.

ECDC 5 is too old to do Video.

Also, there is no guarantee ECDC 5 can run with WinXP after SP2 is added, and there were so many changes made that offially ECDC 5 is no longer supported. Some have gotten it to run, many more have not.

As for getting out the leftover pieces - there is a link to roxizap in FREQUENT ANSWERS, pinned to the top of the board, to get rid of it all.

VideoImpression is part of Video CD creator.

Video CD Creator requires that you use MPEG1 files.

The VideoImpression feature converts AVI or Quicktime video clips or still images (such as BMP, GIF, and JPEG formats) so that they meet the MPEG specification.

The real problem is that ECD5 is not supported under XP SP2. It did work with SP1

A few people have persuaded it to work but the majority can't - however, if you installed Internet Explorer 7 and/or Windows Media Player 11, then you definitely killed it

O.K guys,I had all that in there and it worked fine, than it crashed..I disinstalled it and reinstalled it and still can't get video impressions to even open..other programs, ulead, adobe photoshop, elements 5.0 won't work right either, they won't burn the cd,right, they don't finish the project, which is a slide show,so I'm wondering if there is any files in the computer, that is screwing the other programs up..I cleaned out everything in the register, files etc, that were left over from the program, that I know of..got any ideas?

Did the other programs work correctly before you installed the Roxio product?

As someone else asked.......Did you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or Windows Media Player 11? Those programs can mess up older programs. If you have IE 7 and or WMP 11, you need to uninstall them.

Did you run the Roxizap utility after the uninstall and before the reinstall? That helps clean things out too. It's linked in one of the pinned posts at the top of this board.

I didn't have the other products on my computer, till I reinstalled roxio cdc5,after it crashed.I had all the programs on before the crash, and roxio worked fine. When I tried to burn the cd from video impressions is when it messed up. After reinstalling it video impressions won't even open..everything else in the software opens except that. If I have any left over files,I don't know,I did a clean uninstall, than deleted all the files that were left, went in the register and deleted them..the program should work again, but it's a pc..LOL..sorry a little humor here..Here's what I did to uninstall and reinstall..

Go to "Start" then "Search", look in C:\ (or the drive where

your operating system is located) and search for: Cdr4, Cdral, Cdrtc, L3*.acm

2. Please delete the files found.

3. Go to "My Computer" and double click it.

4. Go into your C:\ drive (C:\ is default install drive, compensate

accordingly if you installed in another location)

5. Go into the "Program Files" Folder

6. Look for a "Adaptec" folder and if found delete it

7. Look for a "Direct CD" folder and if found delete it

8. Go into the "Common Files" Folder

9. Look for an "Adaptec" and/or "Adaptec Shared" folder and if found delete them.

10. Delete the "InstallShield" folder.

WARNING: THE NEXT STEP INVOLVES EDITING YOUR SYSTEM REGISTRY. WE

STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU EXPORT YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY

EDITING. EDITING YOUR REGISTRY INCORRECTLY CAN CAUSE IRREPARABLE

SYSTEM DAMAGE. WE RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE

EDITING YOUR REGISTRY THAT YOU SKIP THIS STEP.

(This process is a bit pointless if you skip the registry trimming bit. - Brendon T)

Clean Easy CD Creator from your Registry:

1. Go to "Start" then "Run" and type "regedit" and press enter or click "OK"

2. Look for "HKey_Local_Machine", Expand it (Either double click it or click the + beside it)

3. Look for" Software", Expand it and select "Adaptec", if found,

and delete (click once it will become high lighted then press "delete" (delete on your keyboard)

4. Look for "Hkey_Current_User", expand it

5. Look for "Software", expand it

6. Select "Adaptec", if found, and delete it

IF YOU ARE NOT USING WINDOWS 2000 OR WINDOWS XP PLEASE SKIP STEP SEVEN

7. Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318

Reinstall Easy CD Creator in this manner:

1. Install Easy CD Creator from the Roxio install disk (We recommend

a custom install and removing Take Two from the installation, also

if you receive a warning that no CD Recorder was detected continue

with the install anyway) but don't reboot.

2. Please make sure that you install the latest software updates

for Easy CD Creator. For your convenience I have included the correct

links for you to download the latest updates for your Roxio Software.

After installing the updates, please reboot your system.

**For the Platinum version of the software**

5.3.5 update

http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/Produc....10_plt_enu.exe

**For the basic version of the software**

http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/Produc...4_basic_enu.exe

If Easy CD Creator does not recognize your CD-Burner after rebooting

also download and install the drive update

DriveUp5.3.4.21c.exe

http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/Produc...iveUp5.3.4c.exe

Reboot and test your software, it should be functioning correctly.

You should now go to "Start" then "Run", type msconfig and select

"Normal Startup".

So what do you think? It doesn't fuction right..It won't open video impressions..This just bugs me..Do I have you all stumped?

Thanks for you time, sorry to bug you all.. :)

I have easy cd creator 5 platinum..it's not basic..

Also when you uninstalled did you use the Roxizap utility to clean everything out.
