EMC9 & DivX

bostondriver

Question

The pinned thread here is locked. I have a quick clarification question before I go off and run through all the steps listed.

The instructions in that thread are for "If you need both the latest DivX codex and EMC 9"

I don't. I just want EMC9 to work! I can care less which flavor of DivX is used.

So, will simply uninstalling the DixX bundle suffice?

In c:\windows\system32, I have the EMC file DivXDec.ax

I'd uninstall both and start over but after the nightmare I had getting activation to work, I'm sure you could understand why I hesitate.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm new here. I have Roxio software that came with my new HP desktop computer.

I am having what seems to be a common problem with opening DivX files in Roxio. I understand the procedures in this thread fix this problem: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?...ivXDec\.ax

The problem is, having my computer for a few weeks now, I have already installed a DivX player without realizing that divxdec.ax would overwrite DivXDec.ax. Further, since the software came with the computer, there is no "reinstall" or "change" option to the program, so I cannot retrieve DivXDec.ax unless I....reinstall windows or reformat (which HP confirmed when I called them).

I would really like to avoid this, so I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could find the time to send me the file through e-mail. Please message me if you would be willing to help me, and I'll give you my e-mail address so you can send me the DivXDec.ax file.

Thanks,

zoso

If this is a new HP, then maybe the Installs should be on the recovery partition on the computer, so if you say that there is no disks with it, see when the computer is booting , if there is a small message (on boot) that says recovery or similer, if there is backup all your data , like email , pictures ect and do a recovery on the computer, it may fix this issue.
