abg
I have a 3-disc set of DVDs. I'd like to merge the first two into one dual-layer disc. Can Toast do this or does it require special authoring software? I'm running a 10.4.8 Intel imac. Thanks in advance, Alan Glendinning
tsantee
Yes you can do this but you'll have to let Toast create a new menu to replace the original menus. Also the source DVDs cannot be copy protected. Insert one of the DVDs and select it in the Media Browser. Go to the Titles level in the browser and add any titles you want to the Video window (with DVD video selected as the format). Toast extracts the video and writes it to the Converted Items folder. Now insert the next disc and do the same thing. When the extraction is finished set up the menu and playback options the way you want and burn your DL disc. k2103
Many thanks. I found that option on DivX player and VLC (but not on Quick Time).

I thought you were trying to make a video DVD from the DivX files. Are you just trying to play them on your Mac?
k2103
I mean DivX discs, which I will play on my Mac, but also on an external Pionner DVD player (DivX compatible).

In the same way, would it be possible to join two parts of a DivX video in order to be able to view it without interruption?
tsantee
Sorry to hijack this thread but when i try to add a new thread the box to type the message does not appear in my browser on safari. This is the only way i can post. Can the admin help? My question was about copying a dvd i made onto a 2nd disc for a friend. I out the dvd i toast it recognises the dvd and the info but how do i copy it onto anoher DVD? When i eject the disc with the info all the info is lost?????? Ahh, now that the site is fixed I can answer your question. To copy a DVD just use the Toast Copy window and click the burn button. Toast temporarily creates a file to the hard drive, ejects the source disc, asks you to insert a blank disc, then burns the new disc.

Toast can't join the two DivX files but if you put them in order as individual titles and choose Play All Items Continuously there will only be a slight picture freeze between the ending the first title and the start of the second title.
