Restore to mac from dvd+rw created on pc

kacnyc

Question

I created backups to DVD+RW using Simple Backup on PC. I now have a mac (thank god) and need to install files from DVD+RW backups. Will Toast 8 be able to read the backup files created using Simple Backup on PC? (Hard drive crashed on PC (for the last time, hence, a new mac) and can't restore from PC). I don't want to purchase Toast 8 if it can't read the DVD+RW created using Simple Backup on PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how the data is stored as to whether or not the Mac can read it. Toast isn't involved in reading discs. If the data is stored as data files, then sure, your mac should be able to read it. If the data is stored in some kind of backup file, then you will probably need the backup application (maybe run parallels or boot camp so you can run Windows on your mac) to restore the files.
