photofile
I can't finalize a data project (photo files),using Creator Classic, burned to a DVD-RW. The "finalize" option is not available when I start the burn, nor are any of the options. It is will only burn using the the "track at once, finalize sesion don't finalize disk. Then I view the disk in Creator Classc, the "finalize" option is shadowed and unavailable. So I can burn the DVD, but not open it any other computer. How can I finalize this this so it can be opened/viewed in other computers? I'm using Easy CD & DVD burner v6.2.1.130 Gateway laptop Windows XP, sp 2 plus all updates Toshiba SD-R6112 cd-dvd buner and checked for driver updates using Sony DVD-RW 1x-2x as suggested by Toshiba Thanks for any help - Kris
gi7omy
If 'all updates' include Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11, you will have to remove both of those. They wreck ECD 6 and also EMC7 and
lynn98109
If the idea is to KEEP the data, you would be advised to use R media - the recrystalized aluminum alloy of RW media immedeatly starts to decrystalize, taking the data with it. RW is useful for testing, and for short term things like transferring data if you don't have a Flash drive (aka Pen / Keychain / Thumb / Jump drive), but not long-term reliable. james_hardin
Never really noticed that before but DVD RW discs, both 'plus' and 'dash' do not have an option for Read Only (Finalize) in V6… Higher versions can but not V6. As Lynn pointed out, RW media should be used only for testing and temporary (non-archival) use.
photofile
Thanks for to all the info . I'm going to pick up some DVD-R disks and try again. Then, if that doesn't work, I'll try the Explorer 7 removal. I really appreciate all the replys. It's a bit of a learning curve for me...

d_deweywright
Remove IE7 FIRST Then worry about the discs Actually, if he can write the RW discs now, with IE7 installed, I'd say try the new discs first, and then if there's a problem remove IE7. From the other comments, it doesn't sound like his ECDC 6 is broken at this point.
