Interpretting DVDInfo Pro results

smasty

Question

Hello! I produced a multi-clip disc last night that is read on 2 of my 3 DVD players. I'm trying to figure out why one won't read the disc. It loads the menu but won't launch the clips when the buttons are selected. I've run the DVDINfo test, can someone help me deciper it?

Ok, did a little research on my own (which I should have done before posting) and I see the CMC MAGE01 media is 3rd quality. I also see the PIE errors are higher than they should be. Not sure yet how to interpret the jitter.

There is a forum member here by the name of cdanteek who frequently asks users for DVDInfo Pro information. I hope he sees this thread and provide feedback on your question. Alternatively, you may want to PM him.

Your correct about the media but the burn to that media looks good according to DVDInfo Pro.

The readability of the data from the disc in one player, could be many things.

How old is the player and model #? You burned a +R with booktype set to DVD-Rom, a good move

for player compatibility.

Your PI, PO, and jitter are well within the limits. Look at your #'s on the bottom left of the Info screen.

Some drives are accurate or close, and some inaccurate and not even close! Your HP 640V writer I have to check on, It could be a BenQ, Lite-On, or LG. How is your drive identified in device manager? What does Info Pro show for the firmware version in the HP 640V?

I would search out better blank media. Rima.com and Supermediastore.com are two I buy Taiyo Yuden

Premium media from.

I have purchased many brands of DVD burners and have yet to have one that even supports the jitter/PIE/PIF test. I now have the HP 840b which doesn't. I think that test was original written for LiteON drives.

I especially like this one made special, for BenQ drives ( Advanced Disc Quality )!

Typical outer disc edge area failure.
